Why People Book Me

Guests in costume singing karaoke at a Charleston party hosted by DJ JC

Karaoke lives or dies on whether people actually get up. That’s the whole job - not just running the music, but building a room where someone who swore they weren’t singing tonight ends up on their second song.

So that’s what I’ve built everything around. Guests scan a QR code and browse the whole catalog right from their phones, which means no binder making its way around the room, no scribbled paper slips, and no line at my table just to look something up. You put your song in, you go back to your friends, and I’ll find you when it’s your turn.

Between singers, the music keeps going. There’s rarely a moment of dead air, because dead air is where a room’s energy goes to die. The line keeps moving so everyone gets their shot.

And it’s your night, not mine. I’ll usually take one song at the top to warm up the room and make sure the system sounds right, then I’m handing it over. If you want more out of me, just say so and I’m happy to sing - but I’d much rather hear your people.

I’ve been hosting karaoke for over five years and performing as a musician and vocalist for more than ten.

The Setup

Outdoor DJ and karaoke setup with string lights at a Charleston venue

Everything I bring is wireless and streamlined, so I’m not swallowing half your venue with gear. Two column speakers handle the sound, I run lyrics from an iPad, and if you’d like the whole room following along, I can connect to a TV over HDMI - you’d just need to provide the screen.

I’ll also bring lighting to warm the space up.

Every Wednesday at The Windjammer

If you’d rather see how I run a room before you hand me your event, come out. I host karaoke every Wednesday night at The Windjammer on Isle of Palms, 8 to 11pm.

Sing something, or just watch how the night moves. Either way, it’s the easiest way to know exactly what you’re booking.

Where I Go

I’m based in Summerville, about twenty-five minutes from downtown Charleston, and I travel all over the greater Charleston area; from Mount Pleasant, North Charleston, James Island, Johns Island, Goose Creek, Kiawah, and Isle of Palms.

I'm also willing to travel, and I do it often. Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach, and Savannah are all regular runs for me, and I’ll go up to 200 miles for your event. Travel fees apply once we’re outside the Charleston area so tell me where you are and I’ll add it into the quote so there are no surprises later.

Beyond karaoke, I also host music bingo for corporate parties and weekly gigs and I own a photo booth that sends digital copies straight to your guests’ phones. Feel free to ask about adding either option!

What It Costs

$500

Karaoke hosting starts at $500.

Where it lands from there depends on how long you need me, where the event is, and whether you’re adding the photo booth or music bingo. Travel fees apply outside the Charleston area.

Send me your date and I’ll come back with a straight number. No packages you have to decode, no upsell games.

Questions People Ask

Do you bring a songbook?

I don't, and it's on purpose. Guests scan a QR code and browse the full catalog on their own phones, then drop themselves into the queue. It's faster than passing a binder around, and nobody has to wait in line just to see what's available.

Can everyone see the lyrics on a screen?

Yes. I run lyrics from an iPad, and I can plug into a TV over HDMI so the whole room can follow along - you'd just need to have the screen there.

What do you need from the venue?

A wall outlet and internet for the song platform. No internet is survivable - I'll use my hotspot, songs just load a bit slower. Everything else, lighting included, comes with me.

Are you insured?

Yes, I carry $1,000,000 in general liability insurance. Most venues and corporate clients require it, so it's good to have that out of the way early.

Are you going to sing the whole time?

No. I'll take one at the start to get the room going and check my levels, then it belongs to your guests. If you want more from me, I'm glad to - I just think the night is better when they're the ones up there.
