Why Companies Book Me

Why Companies Book Me

A corporate event asks more of an entertainer than a party does. At some point in the evening someone is going to give a speech, someone else is going to be recognized in front of their colleagues, and a vice president is going to need a microphone that works on the first try. Somewhere in the middle of all that, the people who came to enjoy themselves still need permission to relax.

Reading which part of the night you’re in, and adjusting accordingly, is genuinely the part of this work I enjoy most.

Because corporate bookings tend to involve more people and more paperwork, I carry a million dollars in general liability insurance and can provide a certificate whenever your venue or legal team requires one. I have found that it is far easier to have that ready in advance than to go looking for it the week of the event.

I also serve as your master of ceremonies as well as your DJ. Introductions, award announcements, keeping the evening moving on time, and handing cleanly to whoever is speaking next are all included, which means you do not need to draft someone from your own team into a role they did not ask for.

What I Bring

What I Bring

I arrive with full sound for the room, wireless handheld microphones, and lapel microphones for anyone who will be presenting. In my experience the microphones are what most often go wrong at a corporate event, so if you tell me how many people are speaking and roughly when, I will plan the setup around them rather than around the music.

I am happy to build a playlist around your group, or to work entirely from one your team has already put together. I am just as comfortable providing quiet background music through a seated dinner as I am turning the second half of the evening into a dance party, and I will read the room to judge when to make that turn.

I also bring ambient lighting, which does a remarkable amount of work in making a plain ballroom or an ordinary office space feel like somewhere worth dressing up for.

Music Bingo

Music Bingo

Most corporate entertainment amounts to a DJ playing music while guests stand near the bar holding a drink they have already finished. Music bingo is what I offer when you want the room genuinely participating instead.

It is bingo played with songs rather than numbers. Guests fill their cards as they recognize tracks, competing individually or in teams, and because the game gives people a reason to talk to one another, it tends to break up the usual clusters of colleagues who already see each other every day.

It also succeeds in the situations where a dance floor quietly fails. Daytime events, company lunches, mixed-age groups, and any gathering where a good portion of the room was never going to dance regardless of what I played are exactly where music bingo earns its place. I host it the way I host everything else, which is to say I keep it moving, keep it light, and make a point of drawing in the table that has gone quiet.

Very few entertainers in the Charleston area offer it. If your company has booked the same DJ for three holiday parties running, this is a straightforward way to make the fourth one feel like something new.

A Photo Booth That Carries Your Branding

A Photo Booth That Carries Your Branding

My photo booth delivers digital copies directly to your guests’ phones, which means the photographs are being shared before most people have made it to the parking lot.

I keep several backdrops available, but I am equally glad to set up in front of one that you provide. For a company event that distinction matters, because it puts your logo and your event branding into every photograph that leaves the room.

Props are included as well, which tends to win over the guests who arrive insisting they do not want their picture taken.

The Events I Cover

The Events I Cover

I work regularly with companies on holiday and Christmas parties, awards nights and recognition evenings, milestone celebrations, client appreciation events, grand openings, staff and team-building gatherings, conference receptions, and fundraisers.

I am based in Summerville, South Carolina, roughly twenty-five minutes from downtown Charleston, and the greater Charleston area of South Carolina is home to most of my work, including Mount Pleasant, North Charleston, James Island, Johns Island, Goose Creek, Kiawah Island, and Isle of Palms. I also travel often to Hilton Head Island and Myrtle Beach, as well as across the state line to Savannah, Georgia, and will go as far as two hundred miles for the right event. Travel fees apply outside the Charleston area, and I will always include them in your quote rather than adding them afterward.

What It Costs

What It Costs

Corporate events vary enough in scope that I prefer to quote each one individually rather than publish a package that would only be approximately right.

If you send me the date, the venue, your expected headcount, roughly how long you would like me there, and whether you would like music bingo or the photo booth included, I will come back with a straightforward number. If your venue requires a certificate of insurance, I will send that along at the same time.

Will you act as the master of ceremonies?

Yes, and it is included rather than treated as an upgrade. That covers introductions, announcements, keeping the run of show on schedule, and handing off cleanly to each of your speakers.

What exactly is music bingo?

Can you use our company’s backdrop for the photo booth?

Certainly. I have my own backdrops available, but I am glad to set up in front of one you provide so that your branding appears in every photograph, and guests receive digital copies on their phones.

How far in advance should we book?

Earlier is always better, particularly for December. Holiday party season fills well in advance, so if you are considering one, it is worth reaching out sooner than may feel necessary.
